Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Without patience and forgiveness, countless hundreds of thousands have worn themselves out and perished.
There are too many to count — how could I count them? Fretting and lost, more than anyone can number have died.
But the one who knows their Master is set free, bound by nothing.
Through the Word, step into the One's Presence, and patience, truth, and peace become yours.
Spend your days on the true wealth of remembrance, and the One comes to live right inside you.
With mind and body and voice, keep its goodness near, and steadiness settles deep in you.
Ego wears a person out and ruins them; everything other than the One is spoiled.
The Maker has placed itself inside every being, while staying vast and free.
Forgiveness and patience set a person free.
Khimaa means forgiveness and patience together. The verse says countless people without it khap ga-ay: they wore themselves out and were lost. There are too many to count. Holding on to anger is like carrying a heavy backpack all day. It slowly wears you down.
But whoever knows the Master is set free. Khoolai banDh na paa-ay — they are untied, and no chains hold them. Through the Word, the Shabad, a person steps into the One's presence. There they find patience, truth and peace. Ha-umai, the ego, wears a person out, but remembering the One brings steadiness.
The last line says jant upaa-ay vich paa-i-an kartaa alag apaar. The Creator made all beings and lives inside each one. Yet the Creator stays free and without limit. The One is inside everything and beyond everything at the same time.
Is there something you could forgive to set your own heart down?
