Sense the One Here and the Small Me Gives Way

ਹਾਹਾ ਹੋਤ ਹੋਇ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨਾ ॥
haahaa hot ho-ay nahee jaanaa.
HAHA: He exists, but He is not known to exist.
ਜਬ ਹੀ ਹੋਇ ਤਬਹਿ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਾ ॥
jab hee ho-ay tabeh man maanaa.
When He is known to exist, then the mind is pleased and appeased.
ਹੈ ਤਉ ਸਹੀ ਲਖੈ ਜਉ ਕੋਈ ॥
hai ta-o sahee lakhai ja-o ko-ee.
Of course the Lord exists, if one could only understand Him.
ਤਬ ਓਹੀ ਉਹੁ ਏਹੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥੪੨॥
tab ohee uho ayhu na ho-ee. ||42||
Then, He alone exists, and not this mortal being. ||42||

In plain words

**H** — the One is here, always here — but often we go through life not noticing it exists at all. It is right in front of us, and we miss it.

But the moment you truly sense that the One is real and present, your mind grows quiet and content, deeply at peace. Of course the One is there — if only we could understand it! And in that understanding, a beautiful thing happens: you see that it is the One shining through everything, and the small separate "me" gently gives way. What remains is the Oneness itself.

The One is always here — and the moment you truly sense it, the small separate "me" gently gives way to the Oneness shining through everything.
The deeper layer

The letter Haha. hot ho-ay nahee jaanaa — the One is, exists, yet is not known to exist — we live surrounded by the divine reality and fail to perceive it. jab hee ho-ay tabeh man maanaa — the moment it is known to be, the mind is satisfied (maanaa — settles, aligns; Mannai). hai ta-o sahee lakhai ja-o ko-ee — surely it exists, if one could only perceive it. The luminous close: tab ohee uho ayhu na ho-ee — then only That One remains, and this (the small separate self) is not. This is not annihilation but recognition — haumai, the illusion of being a separate self, dissolves not by force but by understanding, exactly as the project's lens describes: the wave sees it was always ocean. What "gives way" is only the illusion of separateness; what remains is everything, seen truly.

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever suddenly noticed something wonderful that was there all along, that you'd been walking past without seeing?
