When Doubt Clears, You Meet the Pure Light

ਦਸਮੀ ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਹੋਇ ਅਨੰਦ ॥
dasmee dah dis ho-ay anand.
On the tenth day of the lunar cycle, there is ecstasy in all directions.
ਛੂਟੈ ਭਰਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ॥
chhootai bharam milai gobind.
Doubt is dispelled, and the Lord of the Universe is met.
ਜੋਤਿ ਸਰੂਪੀ ਤਤ ਅਨੂਪ ॥

He is the Embodiment of light, the incomparable essence.
ਅਮਲ ਨ ਮਲ ਨ ਛਾਹ ਨਹੀ ਧੂਪ ॥੧੧॥
amal na mal na chhaah nahee Dhoop. ||11||
He is stainless, without stain, beyond both sunshine and shade. ||11||

In plain words

On the tenth day, joy opens up in every direction at once — ecstasy in all ten directions of the sky.

The fog of doubt clears, and you meet the One who holds the whole universe.

That One is made of pure light, an essence beyond compare. It is utterly clean, with no stain of any kind — beyond even sunshine and shadow, brighter and steadier than both.

When doubt clears, joy opens in every direction and you meet the One — pure light, beyond every stain, brighter than sunshine and shade alike.
The deeper layer

Day ten, dasmee (“tenth”): dah dis ho-ay anand — anand (bliss) in the dah dis, the ten directions (a way of saying “everywhere”). chhootai bharam milai gobind — bharam (doubt, illusion) is dispelled and Gobind (the Cherisher of the universe) is met. jot saroopee tat anoop — the One is jot saroopee (of the form of light), the anoop (incomparable) tat (essence). amal na mal na chhaah nahee dhoop — stainless (amal, no mal/dirt), beyond both chhaah (shade) and dhoop (sunshine) — a purity so complete it is past the play of light and dark altogether.

A Question to Sit With

What does it feel like when a worry or doubt finally clears and everything seems bright again?
