Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Saaloo, Saarang, Saagaraa, Gond and Gambheer;

the eight sons of Siree Raag also include Gund, Kumb and Hameer.

Many voices, one home.
The deeper layer

Siree Raag's eight smaller tunes are named, many voices in one home.

Saarang and Gond echo names of full raags found earlier in the book, so the garland gathers up, in miniature, the whole musical world of the scripture. Gambheer even means "deep" or "serious," a name that carries its own mood.

A Question to Sit With

What makes a group of very different things still feel like they belong together?
