In plain words

Bairaadhar, Gajadhar, Kaydaaraa,

Jabaleedhar, Nat and Jaladhaaraa.

Then come the songs of Shankar and Shi-aamaa.

These are the names of the sons of Maygh Raag.

Right down to their very names, these melodies stay true to the rain.
The deeper layer

The eight smaller tunes of Maygh Raag, the rain cloud, are named, and some carry the rain in their names.

Maygh means rain cloud. Jaldhaaraa means a stream of water, so the watery mood reaches right down to the names.

Kaydaaraa and Nat are also full raags elsewhere in the book.

Think of a family where every child's name has something to do with the sea. You can hear where they come from just by their names. With this, the sixth family is complete. Only the final count is left.

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever noticed a name that perfectly matches the thing it belongs to?
