A Heart Captured by Love Can't Be Calmed by Less

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Mother, what can I do? This mind will not rest.

It is spellbound by the tender love of my Beloved.

A heart captured by real love can't be calmed by lesser comforts.
The deeper layer

The Pause is the helpless ache of viraha: "this mind cannot rest," "bewitched by the tender love of my Beloved." The soul cannot calm itself by any means because it has been captured by a love larger than any comfort. The unrest is love straining toward its source.

A Question to Sit With

What is something so important to you that nothing else can distract you from it?
