Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
You are a guest here, given your daily meals;
everything else is only lent to you.
You own nothing here — it is all lent to a guest who is only passing through.
A beautiful reframing of one's whole life: "you are a guest, given three meals a day," and all the rest "is entrusted to you" — lent, not owned. The guest who knows nothing is truly his holds it gratefully and lightly (cf. Shabad 29, live as a guest). Ownership is the illusion; stewardship is the truth.
A Question to Sit With
If everything you have is only lent to you, how would you treat it?
