Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
I have become the servant of everyone; I have let go of my ego and pride.
The Guru has given this gift to Nanak.
When you see the One in everyone, you naturally become the servant of everyone.
The fruit is radical humility: "I have become the servant of all; I have renounced my ego and pride." Seeing the One in everyone (Pauri 3) makes you the servant of everyone — there is no one beneath you to lord over. And this humility is itself "a gift" of the Guru.
A Question to Sit With
How does seeing the good in others make it easier to serve rather than compete?
