Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The slanderer throws his life away for nothing.

He succeeds at nothing, and finds no place at all in the world beyond.

A life spent tearing others down builds nothing — it is pure waste.
The deeper layer

The Pause states the waste: "the slanderer loses his life in vain." A whole life spent tearing others down "cannot succeed in anything" — the energy of contempt builds nothing, here or hereafter. It is pure loss.

A Question to Sit With

What does contempt actually build? What does it cost the one who carries it?
