The slanderer shall never attain emancipation; this is the Will of the Lord and Master.
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਨਿੰਦ ਕਰੇ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਤਿਉ ਸੰਤਨ ਸੁਖੁ ਮਾਨਾ ॥੩॥
jo jo nind karay santan kee ti-o santan sukh maanaa. ||3||
The more the Saints are slandered, the more they dwell in peace. ||3||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The slanderer never finds release — this is the Master's Will.
And the more the Saints are slandered, the more they dwell in peace.
Slander can't shake a truly rooted soul — it only deepens their peace.
The remarkable reversal: "the more the Saints are slandered, the more they dwell in peace." Slander cannot touch the genuinely rooted soul — if anything, it deepens their peace, since they are anchored in something contempt cannot reach. The attack rebounds entirely, harming only the attacker (cf. Shabad 69).
A Question to Sit With
What gives a person a peace that other people's words simply cannot disturb?
