Without the Lord, nothing else shall be of use to you; false is emotional attachment, and useless are worldly entanglements. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Be wakeful, O my awakening mind!

Without the One, nothing else will help you; attachment is false, and worldly tangles are useless.

Wake up — for in the end, only the One truly helps.
The deeper layer

The Pause rouses the soul: "be wakeful, O my awakening mind!" The call to wake (cf. Shabad 130) comes with a sober reminder: "without the Lord, nothing else shall be of use," for "emotional attachment" is false and "worldly entanglements" useless. Wake up, because only the One finally helps.

A Question to Sit With

What keeps you 'asleep,' and what would help you wake up to what matters?
