Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
All day and night he knows the One is near, and surrenders to the Sweet Will of God.
The One Name is the Saints' whole support, and they remain the dust of everyone's feet.
The Saints know the One is near, accept whatever comes, and stay humble as dust.
A portrait of the Saints begins: they "know the Lord to be near at hand" always (nerai), "surrender to the Sweet Will" (bhana), lean wholly on "the One Name," and "remain the dust of the feet of all" — utter humility. Nearness, surrender, the Name, and humility are the four marks of the Saint.
A Question to Sit With
Which of those — nearness, acceptance, humility — comes hardest to you?
