The Merciful Lord God has bestowed His Mercy, and the True Guru has granted the Lord's Name. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The sight of You is unapproachable and beyond grasping; only the one with such good destiny obtains it.

The Merciful One has shown mercy, and the true Guru has granted the Name.

The vision no one can climb to is simply given, by mercy.
The deeper layer

The Darshan is "unapproachable and incomprehensible" — not reached by effort — and comes only by "good destiny" and "His Mercy." The vision no one can climb to is given, through the Guru's gift of the Name.

A Question to Sit With

What good things in your life came as gifts you could never have reached on your own?
