Sikhism·Raag Aasaa·Shabad 235
Verse 2 of 4

Once Your Eyes Open, You See the One in Every Heart

ਈਤਹਿ ਊਤਹਿ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਤੂੰਹੀ ਤੂੰਹੀ ਮੋਹਿਨਾ ॥੧॥
eeteh ooteh ghat ghat ghat ghat tooNhee tooNhee mohinaa. ||1||
Here and there, in each and every heart, and each and every being, You, O Fascinating Lord, You exist. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Here and there, in each and every heart and being,

You, O Fascinating One, exist.

Once your eyes are opened, you see the One in every heart and everywhere.
The deeper layer

What the opened eyes see is immanence: the One "in each and every heart and... being," "here and there" — everywhere. The Guru's gift is not a vision of something far off but the ability to see the One who was in everything all along (cf. Shabad 114).

A Question to Sit With

What would change if you saw the same One in every person and place?
