The Only Peace Is Accepting What Comes

ਇਹੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਜਾਨੀਐ ਹਾਂ ॥

Know that this is the only peace;
ਹਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਮਾਨੀਐ ਹਾਂ ॥

accept whatever the Lord does.

Become the dust of the Feet of the Saints.

who taste the Ambrosial Nectar of the Lord, O my mind. ||2||

In plain words

Know that this is the only peace: accept whatever the One does.

No one is bad. Become the dust of the Saints' Feet; He preserves those who taste the Ambrosial Nectar, O my mind.

The only peace is accepting what comes — and seeing that no one is truly 'bad.'
The deeper layer

Real peace comes from accepting what the One does, and from seeing that no one is bad.

Har karay so maanee-ai — accept whatever the One does. That acceptance is the sweet side of the Hukam, the flow of existence. The verse calls it the only peace.

Then comes a surprising line: mandaa naahi ko-ay — no one is bad. When you see the One living in everyone, the habit of labeling people "bad" melts away. There is no one left to look down on. Think of a class where everyone stops sorting kids into "cool" and "weird." Suddenly there is room for everyone. Other shabads in Raag Aasaa say the same.

So become the dust of the Saints' feet, humble and close to good people. The One keeps safe those who taste this nectar.

A Question to Sit With

What would change if you stopped sorting people into good and bad?
