They alone are united whom He unites with Himself — reflecting on the Guru's Word.
O Nanak, absorbed in the Name, their faces are radiant in that True Court.
The shabad ends with two deep notes played together: grace, and shining faces.
First, grace has the last word. Aap milaa-i-an say milay — only those He unites are united. This is the last of fifteen such hymns by Guru Amar Das here, all full of practice and method. Now the method bows to the Giver.
Then comes the closing picture. Guru Amar Das also reaches for it at the high point of his Anand, his song of bliss: mukh ujlay — radiant faces. They shine tit sachai darbaar, in that True Court. They are not just forgiven at the Court, or just let in. They glow there. The color of the Name shows. Their light has come home to the Light. Think of a child walking on stage to get an award, face shining. The shining face itself is the certificate.
What kind of life do you think produces a face that is radiant at the very end?
