Sinking to Safe Can Happen in a Single Moment

ਭਭੈ ਭਵਜਲਿ ਡੁਬੋਹੁ ਮੂੜੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚਿ ਗਲਤਾਨੁ ਭਇਆ ॥
bhabhai bhavjal dubohu moorhay maa-i-aa vich galtaan bha-i-aa.
Bhabha: You have drowned in the terrifying world-ocean, you fool, and you have become engrossed in Maya.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਣੈ ਏਕ ਘੜੀ ਮਹਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਇਆ ॥੧੧॥
gur parsaadee ayko jaanai ayk gharhee meh paar pa-i-aa. ||11||
One who comes to know the One Lord, by Guru's Grace, is carried across in an instant. ||11||

In plain words

When the shiny distractions pull us under, we can feel like we're sinking.

But the moment real understanding dawns, we're lifted and carried across in a flash.

The turn from sinking to safe can happen in a single moment of real understanding.
The deeper layer

Here the poem's mood turns — the hinge from warning to hope. The first line names the sinking (bha-oojal... maa-i-aa mohi, drowned in the ocean, engrossed in glitter); but the second delivers the rescue and how fast it comes: jo naam layvai... khin mahi... paar — one who comes to know the One, by Grace, is carried across in an instant (khin). After ten verses of diagnosis, the good news arrives — and it's not slow. The turn from drowning to safety can happen in a single moment of real seeing. From here on, the poem is mostly invitation.

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever had something suddenly 'click' and change how you felt in an instant?
