We Describe the One as Far as It Shows Itself

ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰਣਾ ਸੋ ਕਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕਰਣਾ ਜਾਈ ॥
jo kichh karnaa so kar rahi-aa avar na karnaa jaa-ee.
Whatever He is to do, that is what He is doing. No one else can do anything.
ਜੈਸਾ ਵਰਤੈ ਤੈਸੋ ਕਹੀਐ ਸਭ ਤੇਰੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੩॥
jaisaa vartai taiso kahee-ai sabh tayree vadi-aa-ee. ||3||
As He projects Himself, so do we describe Him; this is all Your Glorious Greatness, Lord. ||3||

In plain words

Whatever is going to happen is the One doing it; no one else does anything on their own.

However the One shows itself to us, that is the most we can say about it — all of it is Your wonder.

We can only describe the One as far as it shows itself — the rest is wonder.
The deeper layer

Two limits at once: a limit on agency (only the One truly does) and a limit on language (we can only describe the One as far as it reveals itself). Both dissolve pride — we neither run the show nor fully grasp it. "As He projects Himself, so do we describe Him" means our theology is only ever the One's self-showing, never our achievement.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you can only describe a little of, because it is bigger than your words?
