The Guru is God, and God is the Guru, O Nanak; there is no difference between the two, O Siblings of Destiny. ||4||1||8||

In plain words

Deep inside you there's an ocean full of jewels — real treasure, waiting.

Those who take the wise words to heart find the jewels come right into their hands. I searched my own depths and saw it: the wise Teacher and the One are not two different things at all.

The treasure is inside you — and the wise guide and the One turn out to be the same Light.
The deeper layer

The Chhant ends at its deepest. The ocean full of jewels is not far away — the last line reveals it was the ocean of the body, churned by devotion until the incomparable jewel came into view: the treasure was within all along. And then the landmark line: Gur Govind, Govind Gur hai — ek roop, na antar — 'the Guru is God, and God is the Guru; there is no difference between the two.' This is a central Sikh conviction: the true Teacher and the One are not rivals or two separate beings — the Guru is where the One becomes reachable, the window through which the same Light shines. Finding one, you have found the other.

A Question to Sit With

Where might you look inside yourself for treasure you didn't know was there?
