Turn to the One and Say the Name Again and Again

ਸਿਖ ਸਭਾ ਦੀਖਿਆ ਕਾ ਭਾਉ ॥
sikh sabhaa deekhi-aa kaa bhaa-o.
Keep the company of the disciples, the students who love the teachings.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੁਣਣਾ ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਉ ॥

As Gurmukh, listen to the True Name.
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਣੁ ਵੇਰਾ ਵੇਰ ॥

O Nanak, chant it, over and over again.
ਇਤੁ ਰੰਗਿ ਨਾਚਹੁ ਰਖਿ ਰਖਿ ਪੈਰ ॥੪॥੬॥
it rang naachahu rakh rakh pair. ||4||6||
So dance in this love, and keep the beat with your feet. ||4||6||

In plain words

Keep the company of those who love what is true.

With your face turned toward the One, listen for the True Name. Say it again, and again, and again.

So dance — in love — and let your whole self keep the beat.

Turn toward the One, keep good company, and say the Name again and again.
The deeper layer

Stay close to people who love the teaching, and keep saying the Name.

Sikh sabhaa deekhi-aa kaa bhaa-o — keep the company of the Sikhs, the learners who love the teachings. The inner dance needs Sangat, good company that lifts you up. Think of learning to swim with friends at the pool instead of alone. Everyone gets braver together.

Gurmukh sunnaa saachaa naa-o — turned toward the Guru, listen to the True Name. Naanak aakhan vayraa vayr — says Nanak, say it again and again. This is naam simran, remembering the Name over and over. It is shared warmly, the way you keep humming a song you love.

A Question to Sit With

Who are the people whose company makes it easier to be your truest self?
