You made it all, and all the greatness is Yours; we simply move the way You gently guide us.
When we let our 'me-first' pride quietly go, real understanding grows, and we settle happily into the wise words.
This one is about letting go of pride so that understanding can grow.
The song closes in glad trust. Ji-o bhaavai tivai chalaa-ay — as it pleases You, so You lead us. That does not mean we are puppets. It means we have stopped fighting the current. Think of floating in a river instead of splashing against it. You still move, but now the water carries you.
The way in is named too: aap gavaa-ee-ai — lose the self-conceit, the "me-first" pride. Then gurmukh buDh paa-ee-ai — the person facing the Guru gains wisdom. Pride keeps saying, "I must run everything." When it softens, you settle into the Guru's Word, the Shabad, and feel at ease. The song began with a One too big to understand. It ends not in frustration, but in the rest of letting a wiser hand lead.
When has letting go of needing to be in charge actually made you feel lighter?
