In plain words

I am Your child, and You are my Father — and we live in the very same home.

Kabir says: the One who loves the One knows this — grace has shown me everything.

You and the One who loves you live under the same roof — there was never really any distance at all.
The deeper layer

The shabad closes on its most beautiful line: I am Your son, and You are my Father — and we both dwell in the same place. Not far apart, not a child calling up to a distant parent in the sky, but the two living in the same home. The whole journey of the shabad — comforted, freed, wondering how to reach the great Father — resolves in the discovery that there was never any distance: parent and child share one dwelling. And by Guru's Grace, I have come to know everything — not every fact, but the one thing that matters: that you belong, that you're home, that the One is right here with you. For a child, this is the deepest safety there is — you and the One who loves you live under the same roof.

A Question to Sit With

What does it feel like to know you're already home, already with the One who loves you?
