Verse 5 of 5

Beyond Worry, Held by Love, a Peace That Sings

ਦੇਹਿ ਬਿਮਲ ਮਤਿ ਸਦਾ ਸਰੀਰਾ ॥
deh bimal mat sadaa sareeraa.
Please, bless my body with pure and lasting understanding, Lord;
ਸਹਜਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਗੁਨ ਰਵੈ ਕਬੀਰਾ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੨॥
sahj sahj gun ravai kabeeraa. ||4||3||12||
in peace and poise, Kabir chants the Praises of the Lord. ||4||3||12||

In plain words

Please fill me with clear, lasting understanding —

then, calm and still, Kabir will sing Your praise.

On the other side of worry — held by a love that forgives everything — is a peace so settled it turns into song.
The deeper layer

Kabir asks for clear understanding, and then his peace turns into song.

Deh bimal mat sadaa sareeraa — please give me pure understanding that lasts. He does not ask to be rescued from every hard thing. He asks for clear, steady seeing, the kind that takes away the whirlpool's power.

Then comes the answer. Sahj sahj gun ravai kabeeraa — calm and settled, Kabir sings the One's praises. Sahj means a natural, easy calm. The relief does not stop at quiet. It spills over into singing. Think of the moment after a storm when the birds start up again. Here the whole shabad comes together. You are loved past every mistake. You can always reach for the steady hand. And on the other side of worry is a settled, singing peace.

A Question to Sit With

What settles your heart so deeply that you feel like humming or singing?
