O Nanak, if the Life of the World bestows His Mercy, one is intuitively attuned to the Love of the Lord. ||4||16||

The one who dies fighting his own stubborn mind finds the One, and the mind's cravings go quiet.
Says Nanak: if the Life of the world grants mercy, the soul is naturally tuned to the One's love.
The real victory is dying to your own stubborn mind — and even that is finished by grace.
The striking phrase "dies fighting against his own stubborn mind" is jeevat marnaa as inner battle — the ego put to death while the body lives. Victory is not over others but over one's own manmukh pull. And even this victory is finally credited to mercy: "if the Life of the World bestows His Mercy." Effort and grace meet — you fight the mind, grace tunes the heart.
