Worry Cannot Rewrite What Is Written

kirat pa-i-aa parvaanaa likhi-aa baahurh hukam na ho-ee.
The deeds are done according to pre-ordained destiny; no one can turn back this Order.
jaisaa likhi-aa taisaa parhi-aa mayt na sakai ko-ee. ||2||
As it is written, so it comes to pass; no one can erase it. ||2||

In plain words

Things happen according to what was written; no one can turn the order back.

As it is written, so it unfolds; no one can rub it out.

Worry cannot rewrite what is written — so worry adds nothing.
The deeper layer

The unchangeable order ("as it is written, so it comes to pass") is stated firmly. Read with the Pause, this is not fatalism breeding despair but a basis for peace: since the order cannot be erased by anxiety or cleverness, worry adds nothing. The cure for fretting is the same as in Raag Gauree — rest in the One who holds the whole.

A Question to Sit With

What might you set down if you trusted that fretting changes nothing?
