You shall be absorbed into the Shabad, the Word of the Perfect Guru. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

So gather up good qualities, and let your faults fall away.

Then you will melt into the Word of the perfect Guru.

Collect good qualities the way you'd collect treasure, and let the faults drop away.
The deeper layer

The Pause gives the practical instruction in the language of accumulation: "gather merits, and let your demerits depart." Guru Amar Das often speaks of virtues (gun) as a treasure to be collected. But, as the shabad will reveal, this gathering is not a transaction — it is a turning of the heart that makes room for the Word.

A Question to Sit With

What is one good quality you would most like to gather more of?
