har kai bhaanai jan sayvaa karai boojhai sach so-ee.
By the Pleasure of the Lord's Will, the humble being performs His service, and understands the True Lord.
har kai bhaanai salaahee-ai bhaanai mani-ai sukh ho-ee. ||3||
By the Pleasure of the Lord's Will, He is to be praised; surrendering to His Will, peace ensues. ||3||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
When it pleases the One, the humble person serves and comes to know the True One.
When it pleases the One, He is praised; surrender to His will, and peace comes.
Peace doesn't come from winning the fight — it comes from stopping the fight against the current.
The refrain repeats, binding service, knowledge, and praise all to the One's Pleasure. And the practical heart: "surrendering to His Will, peace ensues." This is the sweetness of the Hukam (Shabad 60) — peace is not the reward of winning but of stopping the fight against the current.
A Question to Sit With
