The Lord's servant embraces love for the Lord and the state of Nirvaanaa; Nanak contemplates the Lord, the Lord God. ||2||14||66||

In plain words

Some plant love for separateness in their hearts. Some give themselves to worldly attachment and ego.

But the One's servant loves the One and the peace beyond craving. Nanak thinks on the One alone.

What you plant your love in is the seed of what you become.
The deeper layer

What you give your love to is what you grow into.

Some people plant doojaa bhaa-o, the feeling of being separate, in their hearts. Some plant love for moh, clinging attachment, and for pride. And whatever you plant grows.

The One's servant plants love for the One and for nirbaan pad. Nirbaan here means the peace beyond wanting, when the fires of craving cool down. Those fires are the Panch Vikaar, the five pulls like anger and greed. Think of a garden. Plant sunflowers, and you get sunflowers. What you love is the seed of who you become.

A Question to Sit With

Where are you planting your love right now — and what will grow from it?
