In plain words

The beautiful Name is like sweet nectar, and wise teaching is the cup that lets you drink it.

Being puffed-up and greedy is like swallowing something that makes you sick — but the sweetness of the Name clears it right out.

A heart that had gone dry and tired comes back to life when it remembers the One, the way a wilted plant perks up after rain.

This is a gift, given ahead of time, before you even asked.

The sweetness of the Name revives a heart gone dry, and clears out the poison of a puffed-up, grasping mind.
The deeper layer

This one says the Name is like a drink that brings a dry heart back to life.

The verse sets two things side by side. Amrit har har naam hai — the Name is amrit, the nectar of life. Ha-umai maa-i-aa bikh hai — pride in Maya is bikh, poison.

Maya does not mean "money is bad." It means the forgetting that makes us puffed-up and grabby. And the nectar does more than add something good. It clears the poison right out.

Man sukaa hari-aa ho-i-aa — the dry mind turns green again. Think of a plant on a windowsill that was forgotten for a week. Its leaves hang down. Give it water, and by the next morning it stands up green. Remembering the One does that for a heart that has gone dry.

The last line says this blessing was written ahead of time. That is grace, already prepared for us. It is a gift given before we even asked.

A Question to Sit With

When have you felt tired and dried-out inside, and something small brought you back to life?
