Real Silver Rings True To Everyone

In plain words

Nanak, when there is silver inside, everyone says, "It is genuine, it is genuine."

When what is inside is real, it shows without needing to argue.
The deeper layer

When something is genuine inside, everyone can tell.

This is the Rahao, the "pause" line at the center of the shabad. Naanak jay vich rupaa ho-ay / kharaa kharaa aakhai sabh ko-ay — if there is real silver inside, everyone says, "It's genuine, it's genuine." In the old markets, traders tested a coin by ringing it on a stone. Real silver rang true.

The coin becomes a person. When what is inside you is real — honesty, kindness, love for the One — you do not have to argue for it. People recognise it, the way you recognise a friend's laugh from across a room. Being real speaks for itself.

A Question to Sit With

How can people tell when someone is being genuine?
