ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੈ ਸੋ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
kaho naanak mai so gur paa-i-aa.
Says Nanak, I have found that Guru,
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪੂਰਨ ਦੇਖਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੪੧॥੧੧੦॥
paarbarahm pooran daykhaa-i-aa. ||4||41||110||
who has shown me the Perfect, Supreme Lord God. ||4||41||110||

I have found that teacher -- the one who opened my eyes to the whole, complete Oneness. And once you have truly seen that, everything the earlier lines promised becomes real.
The teacher's gift is to show you the complete Oneness that was always there.
The closing couplet names the source of all the safety described above: gur -- the teacher, the light that leads from darkness. Paarbarahm pooran is the Supreme, complete Oneness, shown rather than merely described. The whole shabad turns on this: the protection is not magic, it is what happens when a person is finally shown what was always there.
