ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਰਾਖੁ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥

Keep the Word of the Guru's Shabad in your mind.
ਨਾਮੁ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਸਭ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
naam simar chintaa sabh jaahi. ||1||
Meditating in remembrance on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, all anxiety is removed. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Keep the words of the teaching held safe in your mind. When you hold the Name there and remember, the anxious swarm of worries simply lifts and goes.

Keep the teaching safe in your mind, and the swarm of worries lifts and goes.
The deeper layer

Keep the Guru's words safe inside you, and worries lose their hold.

Gur kaa sabad raakh man maahi — keep the Guru's Word in your mind. Raakh means to guard, to keep safe. The teaching is not glanced at once and forgotten. It is carried, like a note from someone you love tucked in your pocket.

Naam simar chintaa sabh jaahi — remember the Name, and all chintaa, anxiety, goes away. Remembering works on worry the way light works on shadows. Switch on the light, and the shadows are simply gone.

A Question to Sit With

What is one true thing you could keep safe in your mind when worries swarm?
