Verse 5 of 6

Soak the Mind in the One; True Practice Won't Boast

ਜਪਸਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਰਚਸਿ ਮਨਾ ॥
japas niranjan rachas manaa.
Meditate on the Immaculate Lord, and saturate your mind with Him.
ਕਾਹੇ ਬੋਲਹਿ ਜੋਗੀ ਕਪਟੁ ਘਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kaahay boleh jogee kapat ghanaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Why, O Yogi, do you make so many false and deceptive claims? ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Soak your mind in the pure One. Why, Yogi, do you make so many big, false claims?

Soak your mind in the One -- real practice does not need to boast.
The deeper layer

A second Rahao turning directly on spiritual pretension. The remedy is to be dyed, saturated with the immaculate One. Against genuine saturation, the Yogi's false claims are exposed. Real practice has no need to advertise.

A Question to Sit With

Why do you think people sometimes exaggerate how good or spiritual they are?
