Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Some people have grown used to the sweetness of the One. They have tasted it and come to love it.
They are threaded through with a tender, loving devotion. They are held close to the gentle nearness of the divine.
Once someone has truly tasted the sweetness of the One, loving devotion goes all the way through them.
This is the Rahao, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad. Raam rasaa-in jo jan geeDhay — these are people who have grown used to raam rasaa-in, the sweet, deep taste of the One. You could even say they are hooked on it, in the best way. Once you have tasted it, you keep coming back, like a favorite family dish you ask for again and again.
Charan kamal paraym bhagtee beeDhay — they are beeDhay, pierced right through, with loving devotion. It is a strong picture, like a needle drawing thread all the way through cloth. The shabad starts by showing what such a soaked-through heart is like. Then its verses show what that heart sees.
What is something good that, once you'd really experienced it, you kept coming back to?
