Filled With the Name, No Longer Ruled by the World

ਬਾਦਿਸਾਹ ਸਾਹ ਸਭ ਵਸਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਨੇ ॥
baadisaah saah sabh vas kar deenay.
The kings and emperors are all under his power;
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮ ਮਹਾ ਰਸ ਪੀਨੇ ॥੨॥
amrit naam mahaa ras peenay. ||2||
he drinks deeply of the most sublime essence of the Ambrosial Naam. ||2||

In plain words

Even the mightiest kings and emperors of the world lose their hold over such a person.

They have drunk deeply from the sweetest thing there is — the nectar of the Name.

The one filled with the sweetness of the Name is no longer ruled by the world's powers.
The deeper layer

Someone filled with the sweetness of the Name is no longer ruled by the world's big powers.

Baadisaah saah sabh vas kar deenay — kings and emperors are all brought under. Baadisaah and saah mean emperors and kings. They stand for every worldly power that usually makes people afraid. For the one rooted in the One, those powers lose their hold. They can no longer frighten.

Why? Amrit naam mahaa ras peenay — such a person drinks the highest taste of the Name. Amrit is the nectar of life that never ends. Ras means taste or sweetness. Think of a child who has just eaten a big, warm meal at home. A stranger waving sweets hardly tempts them. The sweetness of the Name outweighs anything the world can threaten.

A Question to Sit With

What would it feel like to be so full inside that no threat could shake you?
