Everyone who sings what is beautiful about the One becomes pure. In the shelter of kind and holy people, mistakes are washed clean.
Long, hard practices and disciplines bring much good. So do great gains and wishes granted.
Every bit of that good comes to the one who keeps the Name of the One on their tongue with love.
Singing about the One makes a person pure, and it holds all the good of hard practice.
This verse has two parts. First comes the Rahao, the "pause" line at the center of the shabad. Sagal pavit gun gaa-ay gupaal — all who sing the praises of Gupaal, the Keeper of the world, become pure. Paap miteh saadhoo saran da-i-aal — faults are erased in the saadhoo saran, the shelter of kind and holy people.
Then the comparison goes on. Bahut uradh tap saadhan saadhay — many practices of tap, strict self-discipline. Anik laabh manorath laadhay — many gains, and wishes coming true. All of it comes through har har naam rasan aaraadhay — cherishing the Name on the tongue.
It is like one key that opens every room in the house. The Name does not look down on charity or discipline. It fulfills them.
When has singing or saying something with real love changed how you felt inside?
