Everything You Search For Is Gathered Within

ਖੰਡ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ ਕਾ ਏਕੋ ਠਾਣਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਪਰਦਾ ਖੋਲਿ ਦਿਖਾਇਓ ॥
khand barahmand kaa ayko thaanaa gur pardaa khol dikhaa-i-o.
The continents and the solar systems rest in the support of the One Lord. The Guru has removed the veil of illusion, and shown this to me.
ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਇਕ ਠਾਈ ਤਉ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਕੈਠੈ ਜਾਇਓ ॥੩॥
na-o niDh naam niDhaan ik thaa-ee ta-o baahar kaithai jaa-i-o. ||3||
The nine treasures of the wealth of the Name of the Lord are in that one place. Where else should we go? ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The whole of creation — every world, every galaxy — rests in one single place, one source. The Teacher lifted the curtain and let me see it.

Every treasure worth having lives right there, in the Name held within. So why would I ever go running around outside to look for it?

Everything you're searching the whole world for is gathered in one place, and that place is within.
The deeper layer

Everything worth finding is already gathered in one place, inside you.

Khand barahmand kaa ayko thaanaa — all the worlds and galaxies rest in one place, one ground. The Teacher pardaa khol dikhaa-i-o — pulled back the curtain and showed it. The curtain is bharam, the mistake of thinking everything is separate. Behind it is one whole.

Na-o nidh naam nidhaan ik thaa-ee — the "nine treasures," every kind of richness, are in one place. That place is the Naam, the Name, the living presence of the One within.

Think of hunting all over the house for your glasses, and they were on your head the whole time. Ta-o baahar kaithai jaa-i-o — so where outside would I go looking? The treasure is already home.

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever hunted everywhere for something and finally found it right where you started?
