The Source Gives Endlessly and Never Runs Low

sabh ko maat pitaa partipaalak jee-a paraan sukh saagar ray.
He is Mother and Father, the Cherisher of all; He is the Breath of life of all beings, the Ocean of peace.
dayNday tot naahee tis kartay poor rahi-o ratnaagar ray. ||3||
While giving so generously, the Creator does not diminish at all. The Source of jewels, He is All-pervading. ||3||

In plain words

The Oneness is Mother and Father to everyone, caring for all of us. It is the very breath in every living thing, an ocean of peace with no edges. And here is the wonder: it gives and gives without ever running low. Like a bottomless treasure chest of jewels, it fills everything, everywhere, and is never emptier for all its giving.

The Source gives endlessly and never runs low.
The deeper layer

Sabh ko maat pitaa — Mother and Father to all — sets a tone of universal, tender care; the Oneness is not a distant ruler but a parent to every being. The pauri's engine is dayNday tot naahee — "in giving, there is no shortfall." This is one of Gurbani's most beloved images of grace: a Giver whose generosity never diminishes the Giver, a ratnaagar (mine of jewels) that stays full. Abundance here is not scarcity managed well; it is a Source that giving cannot deplete.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you could give away — kindness, attention, help — without ever running out of it?
