Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
You are my delight, You are my praise. You are my beauty, You are my joy. O One, You are my hope and my whole support.
This one says that everything good you could want is found in the One.
Here the shabad talks straight to the One: toohee, "You, only You." Guru Arjan takes everything a person might seek and pours it all into the One. Ras, delight. Jas, praise. Roop, beauty. Rang, love and joy.
This is Ik Onkar, the One Creator of all, made close and personal. The verse does not say these things point to God. It says, "You are these things."
Think of a child who says, "My family is my whole world." The list ends with aas ot: hope and support, the ground a person stands on.
What are the good feelings in your life — and where do you think they really come from?
