One who becomes Gurmukh and meditates on the Lord is honored. ||6||

In plain words

One thing alone stays steady: the One, the truest of the true. The same Oneness that made and shaped everything also gently gathers it back. When a heart turned toward the teaching holds that One, it finds true honor.

Only the One stays steady through all change — and holding that One is where real honor lives.
The deeper layer

This one says that only the One stays steady through all change.

After five verses of everything passing, here is the anchor. Nihchal ayk sachaa sach so-ee — only the One is unchanging, the truest of the true.

Jin kar saajee tineh sabh go-ee — the One who made everything also draws it back in. Making and unmaking are not two hands. They are one flow, the Hukam, the flow of existence. Think of waves rising out of the ocean and sinking back into it. It is the same water all along.

The reward in the last line is not power. It is pat, honor and dignity. It comes to the gurmukh, the one facing the Guru, who holds the One in mind.

This is the still center the whole shabad has been circling toward.

A Question to Sit With

What is one thing in your life that has stayed steady even when everything else changed?
