The ones who are soaked in the Name carry a quiet freedom wherever they go. They can have a home, a family, chores, a busy life — and still keep their love gently tuned to the truth right in the middle of it all. How lucky, how blessed, are those who live this way.
You do not have to leave ordinary life to be free.
This last verse answers the question the whole song has been asking. Naam ratay sadaa bairaagee — those soaked in the Name are always free. A bairaagee is someone free of clinging. Here that freedom comes from the Name, so it does not require leaving home.
Garihee antar saach liv laagee — even as householders, their love stays tuned to the True One. A garihee is a householder, someone with a home, a family and work. Picture a parent packing lunches, answering messages and helping with homework. Their heart can stay quietly tuned to the One the whole time.
This is Sikhi's great yes to ordinary life. Naanak satgur sayveh say vadbhaagee — says Nanak, those who serve the True Guru are vadbhaagee, deeply fortunate. They live the whole teaching without leaving home.
How could keeping something you love in mind make an ordinary, busy day feel lighter?
