In plain words

Humility carries a quiet fruit: a calm, easy peace that settles right through you.

This is a gift I was given -- the true teaching placed it gently in my hands.

Humility is not a burden -- it carries a quiet, easy peace as its fruit.
The deeper layer

This one says humility is not a burden. It carries an easy peace inside it.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center the whole shabad circles around. Sahj suhaylaa fal maskeenee — the fruit of humility is easy, natural peace. Maskeenee means humility, gentleness. Fal means fruit. Sahj is natural, unforced ease, the calm of a soul that has stopped fighting.

Then comes an important word. Guru Arjan calls humility a daan, a gift. Satgur apunai mohi daan deenee — my True Guru gave me this gift. Humility is not a grim prize you grind out by force. It is received, and its fruit is peace. Think of a neighbor handing you a bag of sweet apples from her tree. You did not grow them. You just hold out your hands.

A Question to Sit With

When has letting go of needing to be right actually made you feel lighter?
