One Breath of Remembrance Beats Countless Days

lives for hundreds of thousands and millions of days, and becomes stable forever. ||1||Pause||

In plain words

But whoever lives in remembrance of the One, even for a single breath, touches something truly alive.

It is worth more than countless ordinary days, and it makes a person steady and at peace for good.

A single breath lived in true remembrance is worth more than countless ordinary days -- and steadies you for good.
The deeper layer

One breath of real remembrance is worth more than countless ordinary days.

This is the rahaa-o, the pause line, the center of the shabad. It turns the whole shabad toward the light. Ayk nimakh jo simran meh jee-aa — whoever lives in remembrance even for an instant. A nimakh is the blink of an eye. That person gains what kot dinas laakh, countless days of half-awake living, cannot give. They become sadaa thir, steady forever.

This is the key to the rest. Every "without remembrance" line that follows is only pointing, by contrast, at how much one breath of real presence is worth. Think of one sunrise you truly watched. It can stay with you longer than a hundred mornings you slept through.

The stress is on how precious simran is, not on anyone failing at it.

A Question to Sit With

Have you had a moment so fully awake that it felt worth more than a whole ordinary week?
