In plain words

When grace touches someone, it gently draws them into good company, where remembering the One becomes easy and warm.

Nanak says: through the teaching, the whole world is carried across.

Grace gently draws us into good company where remembrance grows easy -- and the teaching carries the whole world across.
The deeper layer

Grace draws us into good company, where remembering the One comes easily.

This is the ending, and it lands on grace and hope. Jis bha-i-aa kirpaal tis satsang milaa-i-aa — when the One becomes kind to someone, that person is brought into satsang. Satsang is the true company, people gathered to remember the One. There, remembering grows naturally, like seedlings in a warm greenhouse.

The last line lifts the whole shabad beyond any one person's failings: kaho naanak gur jagat taraa-i-aa — says Nanak, the Guru has carried the whole world across.

After a shabad full of "without remembrance," the last word is that everyone is carried. The door is open to all. Grace, not judgment, has the last word.

A Question to Sit With

Who are the people, or the places, that make it easiest for you to feel connected and at peace?
