O Nanak, my doubts and fears have been dispelled, and the Messenger of Death does not see me any longer. ||1||

In plain words

Whatever I have — my energy, my thoughts, all I own — I would gladly give to whoever helps me feel close to the One.

And Nanak says: when that closeness comes, doubt and fear simply melt; even the shadow of dread loses sight of me. Nearness to the One is where worry cannot reach.

Nearness to the One is where doubt and fear cannot reach — worth more than anything you could give for it.
The deeper layer

Closeness to the One is worth everything you have, and it cuts away doubt and fear.

Tan man dhan arpa-o — body, mind and wealth, offered to whoever brings union with the One (prabhoo milaavai). The reward is bharam bhau kaatee-ai, doubt and fear cut away, and chookai jam kee joh, literally "the Messenger of Death no longer sees me." Here that becomes even the shadow of dread loses sight of me: release from fear, with no pursuer at all. The "Tatta" Pauri follows and spells out that this closeness is worth more than any possession.

A Question to Sit With

When you feel close to someone who loves you, what happens to your worries?
