Those who come to know their God, O Nanak, are very fortunate. ||1||

In plain words

Clear and steady is the mind, and warm is the good name, of those whose minds hold the word of the Perfect Guru.

Nanak says: those who come to know their own One are the fortunate ones — rich in the way that counts.

Those who take the Guru's word to heart and come to know the One are the fortunate ones — rich in the way that counts.
The deeper layer

A clear mind and a good name belong to those who hold the Guru's word.

Mat pooree pardhaan — perfect intellect and distinguished standing belong to those gur pooray man mant, whose minds hold the Perfect Guru's word. Jih jaani-o prabh aapunaa... bhagvant — those who know their own One are fortunate and blessed. A clear, steady mind and a good name are the marks of one who takes the Guru's word in. The second "Mamma" Pauri follows, on the one who knows the mystery.

A Question to Sit With

What does it mean to "know" something not just in your head, but in a way that steadies your whole self?
