Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Day ten. Bring your ten busy senses gently home, and your mind grows calm and content as you keep the One in mind.
Let your ears take in what is beautiful about the One. Let your eyes rest on kind, good people. Let your tongue sing of the Endless. Let your mind hold the One who is complete.
And let your hands and feet do good work — help, serve, show up for others. This whole way of living isn't something you force. It arrives as a gift, through grace.
Dasmee is the tenth day, echoing das duaar — the "ten gates" (the body's senses). The verse is a beautiful head-to-toe inventory: ears for hearing praise, eyes for beholding the kind, tongue for singing, mind for holding the One, and hasat charan — hands and feet — for sant tahal (serving others). This is a whole-body spirituality: not withdrawal but every sense turned toward the good and the hands turned toward service. And the close guards against pride or strain: ih sanjam prabh kirpaa paaee-ai — this disciplined life is itself received by grace, not manufactured by willpower. The senses aren't conquered like enemies; they're brought home.
If your eyes, ears, hands, and feet each did one good thing today, what would they be?
