I chant the Praises and Glories of the True One. True is the glorious greatness of the True Lord.

I praise the True Lord, and the Praises of the True Lord. His worth cannot be estimated.

Those who have tasted the true essence of the True Lord, remain satisfied and fulfilled.

They know this essence of the Lord, but they say nothing, like the mute who tastes the sweet candy, and says nothing.

The Perfect Guru serves the Lord God; His vibration vibrates and resounds in the mind. ||18||

In plain words

I sing the praise of the True One; true, so true, is the greatness of the True One.

I praise the True One and speak the praise of the true — a worth so great no one can ever measure it.

Those who have tasted the true, true sweetness stay full and satisfied.

They know this sweetness the way someone tasting sweet candy knows it — a delight beyond words, that no telling can capture.

The Perfect Guru serves the One, and a joy rises up and rings within.

The sweetness of directly knowing the One is like a taste that overflows every word — you can't explain honey; you can only taste it.
The deeper layer

The closing Pauri of this stretch, and a fitting one — pure praise, and a meditation on why the deepest experiences can't be put into words. Its unforgettable image is ji-o goongai mithi-aa-ee khaa-ee — like someone tasting sweet candy who cannot describe the taste to another. The sweetness of directly knowing the One is a felt experience, complete in itself, that simply overflows every attempt to explain it. You can't hand someone the taste of honey with words — they have to taste it. The last image is joy that is almost physical: man vajee vaaDhaa-ee — a joy that "rings" and "resounds" in the mind, like a bell struck inside.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you've felt so strongly that words couldn't quite capture it? Why do you think some things can only be known by experiencing them?
