The Fearless Home Is a Steadiness Found Inside

ਕਵਨੁ ਸੁ ਘਰੁ ਜੋ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਕਹੀਐ ॥

Where is that home, which is said to be free of fear?

In plain words

People ask: where is that home where fear finally lets go? Where can you live completely unafraid? There, fear itself runs away. What remains is a steady, fearless peace.

The truly fearless home isn't a place you travel to — it's a steadiness you find inside.
The deeper layer

The fearless home everyone looks for is not a place on a map. It is a steadiness you find inside.

This is the Rahao, the "pause" line. It is the center of the shabad, the idea everything else turns on. Kavan so ghar jo nirbha-o kahee-ai — where is that home which is called fearless? The answer is a way of being, not an address. Bha-o bhaj jaa-ay abhai ho-ay rahee-ai — there, fear runs away, and you live without fear.

The Mool Mantar, the opening lines of the Guru Granth Sahib, calls the One nirbha-o, without fear. Here that same fearlessness is found within. Think of being tucked up at home during a storm. The rain still falls outside, but you feel safe.

The next verses clear away the wrong places people look for this home.

A Question to Sit With

Where do you feel most unafraid — and is it a place outside you, or a feeling within you?
