Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

My Beloved is the wealthiest merchant of all.

And the whole world is out trading on the Beloved's behalf — every one of us is a little trader in the One's great business.

We are all traders in one great enterprise that belongs to the One.
The deeper layer

This one says we are all traders in one great business that belongs to the One.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad. Aisaa naa-ik raam hamaaraa — my Lord is such a great naa-ik, a rich merchant. Sagal sansaar kee-o banjaaraa — who has made the whole world into banjaaray, traveling traders.

Kabir lifts the story upward. Behind all our small trading stands the One, who set the whole thing moving.

The verse says only that much. Read gently, it changes how the whole journey feels. Think of a kid selling lemonade who learns the stand is part of a big, kind family business. We are not lost traders on our own. We belong to something much larger.

A Question to Sit With

How does it feel to imagine that you belong to something much larger and kinder than yourself?
